WINNING ISN'T MEASURED BY WHETHER YOU TAKE HOME A PRIZE, IT'S BY HOW YOU FEEL WHEN YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAVE CHANGED OTHER KID'S LIVES FOREVER. YOU HAVE MADE SOMEONE ELSE FEEL STRONG AND GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES. YOU HAVE TURNED THE LIVES AROUND OF COUNTLESS VICTIMS AND BULLIES. YOU MAY EVEN HAVE STOPPED SOMEONE FROM COMMITTING SUICIDE. "THE GREAT LITTLE STUDENT'S BOOK OF POWER QUESTIONS" contains the most innovative, positive, and simple technique to not only help the victim, but also save the bully, using four simple sentences. The answer is in the song. When you see someone is being bullied, don't grab your phone to record it. Instead, grab the victim by the arm, look the bully in the eye, and, in your strongest voice, repeat:
That's not cool, Man
You're better than that.
Get some help
That's where it's at.
Of course, there's more to it than that; but you get the idea and I don't want to have to issue a "Spoiler Alert" for the book!
To get this amazing technique into the hands and minds of as many kids as quickly as possible, I'm issuing an Anti-Bullying Challenge to schools, groups and organizations everywhere. I would like kids to post their own version of this song to YouTube; and I ask schools or organizations to support the students' efforts by awarding a prize to the student or students who receive the most "likes" within a given period. Once this method goes viral, there's no limit to the number of students whose lives will be changed or even saved!
Who can enter? Anyone! Bullying is too big a problem for just a few to tackle - but if we all work together, we can eliminate it in this generation! You can do this with your school, your organization or club, scout troops, school bands, anti-bullying organizations, cheerleading teams - there really is no limit. Adults can also show their support and be very creative. How cool would it be for a group of teachers, plumbers, electricians, beauticians, band groups, nurses/doctors, sports team, celebrities, your office staff or department -anyone - to step up to the plate? And you don't have to do it for a prize - you can create your video just to do your part and show kids you really mean what you say. I'll bet these could be very interesting! Did you always dream of becoming an internet sensation? Why not create a video to see how many hits you can get? Really promote it on every conceivable social media site and see how far you could make your video travel? You could be getting comments and hits from Japan, Australia, New Zealand! How about setting a goal of reaching the North and South Pole? Become an internet guru while doing something positive to eliminate bullying! A definite Win-Win!
